Welcome to By Your Side Recovery!
"The only thing you could lose by waiting is...everything"
We are happy you are here and want you to know you are in a safe place. Addiction is scary and often has drastic consequences. It affects not only the ones with substance abuse problems, but their loved ones as well. It is financially, emotionally and spiritually draining to be in active addiction. One can lose relationships, homes, cars, freedom and sadly, even one's life.
Luckily, there is a solution. Many people who once had life-threatening substance abuse issues found help and now live happy, healthy and productive lives. It is not something that one can "recover" from and never have to worry about again, but something that is an on-going process where one is "recover-ing."
By Your Side Recovery offers private coaching wherever you are and on your time schedule. People have the luxury to order everything from groceries to cars from their devices, so why not order help for your substance abuse problems the same way? We make it an easy and relaxed process. We offer a non-clinical approach to quitting drugs and alcohol and completely transforming your life for the better.
A certified addiction recovery coach will offer guidance and support, and help you every step of the way as you transition out of a life of misery and into a life of success. Because everybody's lives and circumstances are different, coaching offers customized solutions that fit you and your lifestyle specifically. Studies have shown that working with an addiction recovery coach significantly lessens the likelihood of relapse.
We offer a free consultation where you can ask questions and chat with a coach to see if our services are a good fit for you or your loved one. We will never pressure you to purchase coaching sessions during these consultations. In fact, we won't take you on as a client if we don't feel we are a good match for your circumstance. We don't want your money if we don't think we can help you. Certain cases will need higher levels of care than we can provide, but we will refer you to third party services and facilities should that be the case.
My name is Samantha and I am the CEO and founder of By Your Side Recovery
I struggled with an opioid and alcohol problem for years. I was scared and unhappy and lost. All I wanted was for somebody to tell me everything was going to be ok. After trial and error and persistence, I finally created a formula for my life that allowed me to live clean and sober AND enjoy it. I was worried I would be bored and uncomfortable living without alcohol and pills, but my life is now rich in ways I couldn't have even imagined.
I created my company to make it easy and affordable for people with substance abuse problems to get customized help. In my own journey to recovery, I would have loved to have been able to turn on my computer and have a video call with a recovery coach who could teach me how to get healthy and happy from the privacy of my own home. I now offer that luxury to you. You are welcome to have your coaching sessions in your pjs! Let's just get you free from the chains of addiction! I promise you it's worth it!
I hold two Bachelor's of Arts degrees from the University of Southern California. I and my team are all nationally certified recovery coaches.
More about addiction recovery coaching...
You may be wondering exactly what an addiction recovery coach is. Isn't it the same thing as a sponsor? No. A sponsor is a member of a 12 step program with a working knowledge of AA's "Big Book," who is willing and able to take you through the steps. They will also make suggestions for sobriety based on their own experiences. They usually have a limited amount of time because it is a volunteer position. A recovery coach, however, is a certified addiction specialist and will work with you as long as you want and on your time schedule. It's like hiring a personal trainer for your addiction recovery. A good coach will get your mind, body and spirit in tip top shape.
You will look better, feel better, have more money in your pocket (think about the thousands of dollars you are saving by NOT spending your money on drugs and alcohol), and have better relationships with your friends and family - even if those relationships were nearly destroyed during active addiction. This is about building a brand new beautiful life for yourself.
"You don't get over an addiction by stopping using. You recover by creating a new life where it is easier to not use. If you don't create a new life, then all the factors that brought you to your addiction will catch up with you again" - Healthyplace.com
By Your Side Recovery coaches set goals with you, teach life skills, motivate you, identify triggers, provide resources for any need, boost your self-esteem, help you find natural mood-improving techniques, actively listen when you need to vent or discuss personal issues, and, time permitting, close out each session with a recommended meditation, chanting, or a breathing exercise. You will leave your coaching session in a calm and grounded manner so you can feel confident to tackle the rest of your day.
Keep in mind that recovery coaches are not doctors or therapists and should never be used in place of medical professionals. Your recovery coach can work in tandem with you and your health professionals to give you the overall highest success rate for long-term recovery. We keep everything discussed in sessions completely confidential. Your privacy, comfort, and anonymity are top priorities for us at By Your Side Recovery!
BYSR also offers sober companion services
Here is an explanation of what a sober companion is...
A sober companion is someone who stays by your side for several hours, days, weeks, or even months at a time while you re-learn how to live life without drugs and alcohol. They hold you accountable and keep you out of trouble.
Perhaps running errands is overwhelming in early recovery because you are used to having a glass of wine or two before hitting the grocery store. Bring along your sober companion; they will not only keep you calm, but help you steer clear of that alcohol aisle you're so used to cruising down.
Maybe you want to hang at your house and watch a movie, but are worried you will be tempted to have drugs or alcohol delivered to you because that's been your M.O. every Friday night for the last eight years. Your sober companion can pull up a seat next to you on the couch, and even offer to make you some popcorn (if you ask them nicely). Their job is to comfort you and make sure you are feeling safe and secure at all times. A good sober companion will never judge you or make you feel less-than.
Sober companions are not doctors, detox nurses or therapists. They are essentially personal assistants specifically for the sake of helping you attain and maintain abstinence or sobriety.
Sober companions can also help you identify triggers, attend functions with you, and share guidance from personal experience on how to navigate life into and through recovery. How you choose to introduce a sober companion to anyone else is entirely up to you. Perhaps you want to attend a wedding but are worried about that open bar being a bit too tempting (especially since you haven't danced without alcohol in your system since you were in middle school). Bring your sober companion for moral support. That way, you have another person with you who you know is not drunk or high when you hit the dance floor. You are less likely to give in to temptation when you have someone by your side holding you accountable. You can introduce your sober companion as a "friend from out of town" so nobody knows about or judges your new life in recovery.
